Brought up in the Midlands, I studied Fine Art at the Universiy of Reading in the late 1970s, which led to my first job as a graphic and scenic artist.
Looking to develop myself a few years later, I took a Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Art & Design and become an art teacher.
In 1990 whilst still a teacher I received the "Best Newcomer" award from the Royal Watercolour Society, which was one factor in my decision the following year to paint full-time.
Since then I have had a number of exhibitions and been the artist-in-residence for the Channel 4 TV series "Watercolour Challenge".
I live with my family by the sea near Morecambe Bay. Walking the dogs on the beach is a great start to my working day – I never stop appreciating how lucky I am!
